New homes and investment set for Ferniegair
Persimmon Homes West Scotland has announced plans for a £2 million investment in Ferniegair with new homes, investment in local schools, and upgrades to infrastructure in the pipeline.
The homebuilder will deliver 151 new energy-efficient homes on land off Fairholm Avenue, bringing a mix of properties tailored to local needs, from three-bedroom terraced homes to five-bedroom detached houses. The development is designed to support first-time buyers, growing families, and downsizers alike.
Alongside the new homes, Persimmon will invest more than £2m into the local area, including:
- £950,000 towards affordable housing to support access to homes for those in need
- £823,000 for local education to help expand and improve local schools
- £226,000 towards infrastructure to improve services and facilities in the area
- £189,000 for road improvements to enhance safety and connectivity
The development is also expected to deliver a boost to the local economy, creating around 110 jobs on site and supporting a further 83 roles across the local supply chain.
Persimmon Homes recently acquired the site after obtaining planning permission from South Lanarkshire Council.
Craig Moore, land director of Persimmon Homes West Scotland, said: “Ferniegair is a fantastic location, and we’re pleased to be bringing forward plans that will deliver much-needed new homes alongside real investment in the local community.
“This development is about more than just housing. It will support local schools, improve infrastructure, create jobs, and provide a range of high-quality, energy-efficient homes for people at different stages of life. We’re looking forward to starting work on site and delivering a high-quality development for local residents.”
Work on the development is expected to begin following final preparations, with the new homes set to play an important role in supporting Ferniegair’s growing community.
