Nixon Hire prepares to showcase latest business innovations at ScotPlant 2026
For almost 60 years, Nixon Hire has held its position as one of the UK’s leading equipment hire companies, with a demonstrable record of innovation and a passion to embrace change.
Over recent years, they have undergone a successful transition from a generalist provider of site equipment to experts in sustainable sites, as recognised by the Financial Times, who named them their Reinvention Champion for Property & Construction in 2025.
ScotPlant 2026
Keen to showcase their new strategic direction to the industry, the business is pleased to be exhibiting at this year’s ScotPlant exhibition, where they will be demonstrating a fully operational live sustainable site setup. The setup will demonstrate how their market-leading modular and site accommodation solutions can be seamlessly integrated with their innovative renewable energy products and carefully selected service solutions to help make customers’ journeys to net zero sites as easy as possible.
Visitors will also get an exclusive first look at the latest additions to their renewable energy fleet, including their most powerful battery storage unit to date. Designed for higher-load and larger-scale applications, this latest fleet investment will significantly increase capacity and allow Nixon Hire to better to support larger site setups and reinforces their commitment to delivering practical, scalable renewable energy solutions nationwide.
A Focus on Digital Innovation
An 8-bay modular building will take centre stage at ScotPlant, at the heart of which will be a working replica of their Renewable Energy Hub, a powerful control centre designed, configured and run by its Technical Support Team and a key proof point for its experts in sustainable sites promise.
This powerful Customer Data Centre provides solutions that not only meet current needs but also anticipate future challenges. By leveraging real-time insights and adopting a customer-first approach, their renewable energy experts can monitor performance, predict potential issues and offer tailored recommendations which align with their customers’ goals.
Introducing Pulse
At ScotPlant, Nixon Hire will also be taking the opportunity to spread the word about their brand-new Customer Portal, Pulse. Launched just this week, this truly unique platform offers their customers an interactive self-serve experience and brings together everything they need to manage their sites in one place.
Powered by in-house innovation, dynamic data and expert insights from their Renewable Energy Hub, this latest digital development was designed with one clear purpose – to help sites run more efficiently, more sustainably and with less hassle, so customers can stay focused on delivering their projects.
The platform provides real-time data, diagnostics and automated carbon reporting, allowing users to monitor financial and environmental performance and analyse key trends across multiple time periods and locations – to make more informed, data-driven decisions.
Initially available for all renewable energy customers to access, Pulse is being further developed behind the scenes with future enhancements allowing it to be accessed by a wider audience – users can expect AI-assisted data insights, live ETAs for deliveries and much more.
Providing customers with an effective digital interface is fundamental to Nixon Hire’s strategy as experts in sustainable sites, as explained by chief information officer John Whitlow: “Through digital innovation, we’re bringing together data, ESG insights and customer experience into a single, intuitive platform that helps our customers make better, more informed decisions every day.
“By going beyond the provision of sustainable assets and giving customers full visibility of the performance of their sites, Pulse moves sustainability from an abstract goal to something practical and measurable. It’s about using data responsibly to improve efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and create a simpler, more transparent experience for our customers - all while laying the foundations for continued innovation as expectations and standards evolve.”
Investing in Scotland
Serving Scotland for over 40 years, Nixon Hire has 15 Depots located throughout Scotland and England, including a dedicated Renewable Energy Centre of Excellence at their Glasgow Depot and a much-anticipated Modular Buildings Centre of Excellence opening in Dundee.
Set to officially open in May, this heralds the first modular base for Nixon Hire in Scotland, created with the purpose of establishing a stronger local presence and allowing the business to better deliver smarter, sustainable project solutions for their Scottish customers.
Existing and potential customers will have the opportunity to visit the Depot, meet their teams of experts and discuss in detail how they can help them meet their ESG goals. Supported by Glasgow’s Renewable Energy team, they will demonstrate their wide range of cutting-edge products and explain exactly how they can work together to have the biggest positive impact on customer sites.
Colin Anderson, Nixon Hire’s regional director - north, said: “ScotPlant presents a great opportunity for us to strengthen our position as experts in sustainable sites within the Scottish market. Through live demonstrations, immersive stand experiences and engaging conversations, we are looking forward to demonstrating how our products, partnerships and experts are leading the shift towards more sustainable, smarter and resilient site solutions.”
