Nova Homes appoints Charles Church as consultant land buyer

New start-up housebuilder, Nova Homes, has welcomed Charles Church as a consultant land buyer.

With over 30 years of experience in land acquisitions within the housebuilding industry, Charles will bring a wealth of experience in the company’s current site identification and acquisition aim.

During his time within the industry, Chartered Surveyor, Mr Church has worked for several leading housebuilders, including Mactaggart and Mickel, Avant Homes, Miller Homes and Taylor Wimpey. He has a strong knowledge of land acquisition across Scotland, particularly the central belt, and is experienced in the acquisition process including planning and legal agreements.

Having worked with Mactaggart and Mickel between 2014 - 2020, Mr Church already has a long-standing relationship with Nova Homes Non-Executive Director, Ed Monaghan.

Speaking of his appointment, Charles Church said: “When I spoke with Gordon and Ed, I was excited at the prospect of the opportunity to help Nova, as a new entrant to the market, make an impact, particularly as a time when the housing market could be viewed as quite flat with interest rates rises and the likes, and see this as an opportune time to acquire sites.”

Nova Homes managing director, Gordon Cunningham, added: “We are delighted to welcome Charles to the team, and believe his experience in the industry will be extremely beneficial as we seek to identify suitable land for our first developments. We are very much looking forward to growing the team at Nova Homes and developing exciting sites.”

Established in 2023, by Gordon Cunningham, managing director and majority shareholder of the well-established main contractor, Clark Contracts and non-executive director, Ed Monaghan, former CEO of the award-winning house builder Mactaggart and Mickel, Nova Homes’ aim is to deliver thoughtfully designed homes, using quality and sustainable materials and premium products.
