OFR director Jamie Gibson said: “This is a specialist area of work and I am proud of the team’s efforts in helping bring the new plant to fruition.

“Our remit here was complex and as well as prioritising fire life safety of building occupants, a large part of our work was about ensuring business continuity – making sure that the site can remain operational in case of fire. Through client collaboration and regular dialogue with insurers we developed a fire strategy which integrated life safety, business continuity and property protection objectives into fully co-ordinated approach.”

The company’s 15-strong Scottish-based team – which was established in 2016 – is now transferring its expertise to other waste-to-energy plants, working on a similar facility in Deeside on behalf of LOGIK Limited. The team is also undertaking work to prepare a fire engineering strategy for Brockwell Energy in Grangemouth.

Jamie added: “I am proud that our expertise in this area has been recognised with further work and look forward to taking on more projects across the UK as we protect people, place and planet.”

The news comes as OFR broadens its Scottish portfolio; in early 2022 the team was appointed by developer Dandara on the City Wharf. The scheme will include one of the highest residential buildings proposed in Glasgow. The team is also currently supporting Robertson Construction through the onsite development of Holland Park, a large build-to-rent scheme which occupies the old Pitt Street Police site.
