Some fantastic contributions have been received so far but urgently help is still required to reach as many children as possible this year.

The Winter Warmer Appeal, alongside charity partner PEEK (Possibilities for Each and Every Kid), helps to raise money to buy new winter jackets and new wellington boots to be donated to local children. The appeal closes on December 10 to ensure the clothing can get to the children before the schools close for the Christmas holidays.

Angeline Robertson, partnership director at hub West Scotland, said: “We appreciate that there are a lot of great charities seeking your support at this time of year. Our appeal provides essential items to directly to our local children and we really need your help to reach as many as we can.”

CEO of Peek Michaela Collins has said that this year’s demand is even higher.

“A winter jacket might seem like an essential item but will be beyond the reach of many families we support, especially this year,” she added. “This Winter, in addition to the pandemic continuing to have an impact on household incomes and health, we are seeing families forced to choose between fuel and food. Sadly, children always fall through the cracks. There needs to be people to pick them up, love them and support them.

“But ultimately, what’s needed is money directly in pockets. PEEK heavily rely on these donations. Every pound and penny goes directly to the children in need. Please do what you can to make a real difference to children living in poverty in Glasgow by donating to hub West Scotland’s Winter Warmer Appeal.”

PEEK works to improve the life chances of children and young people living in the Glasgow area. 2021 and the ongoing pandemic has been especially tough for many across the city, but more than ever it has been especially tough for those in poverty who this year won’t be able to provide essential winter jackets and wellington boots for their children.

The Winter Warmer Appeal generates a fantastic response each year and reaches those who need it the most, but Hub West Scotland cannot do it alone and need as much support as possible.

A JustGiving page has also been set up so people and companies can donate directly to the appeal. 100% of the money raised will be used by PEEK to purchase warm clothing and boots for those children that need it right across the city.
