Forty-four new homes have been handed over to Sanctuary Scotland as part of Persimmon Homes West Scotland’s Royale Meadows development in Muirhead.
The energy-efficient properties include two-bedroom cottage flats, two-bedroom terraced homes and three-bedroom terraced homes, providing a mix of housing for local people.
The handover was marked by a visit to the development from Persimmon Homes land director Craig Moore, who met with Deann Linning, director of Sanctuary Scotland, and Cllr Michael McPake, convenor of Housing at North Lanarkshire Council.
The properties will now be managed by Sanctuary Scotland, helping to provide homes for people across the area.
Cllr Michael McPake, convenor of Housing at North Lanarkshire Council, said: “This is a welcome addition to the supply of good-quality, energy-efficient homes in North Lanarkshire. Working with partners like Persimmon Homes and Sanctuary Scotland means we can provide more homes for local people while supporting the growth and development of our communities.
“These new homes in Gartcosh will make a real difference to the people who move in, providing them with a safe, secure and affordable place to call home. It also complements the council’s own investment in new build housing and our wider work to meet housing need across North Lanarkshire.”
Chris Logan, managing director at Persimmon Homes West Scotland, said: “We’re delighted to hand over these 26 new homes to Sanctuary Scotland and help provide much-needed housing for local people.
“Royale Meadows is an important development for Muirhead and we’re proud to be working with our partners to deliver high-quality, energy-efficient homes that will make a lasting difference to the community.”
Chris Hogg, development manager at Sanctuary Scotland, said: “We’re pleased to add these 26 high-quality homes at Royale Meadows to Sanctuary Scotland’s portfolio, strengthening our presence in North Lanarkshire and giving us the opportunity to offer more people a safe, secure and affordable place to call home.
“The mix of cottage flats and family homes will allow us to meet a range of housing needs, while the energy-efficient design of the properties will be an important benefit for our tenants, helping to create comfortable homes that are more economical to run.
“We look forward to welcoming our new tenants and becoming part of the Muirhead community, as we continue to work with our partners to grow the homes and services we provide across Scotland.”
