Planning approval expected for Dundee mixed-use development

Brunton Design has had its plans for a mixed-use development on Dundee’s Marketgait recommended for approval.

Under the practice’s proposals, the £6 million development will deliver 43 residential units at the prominent city centre location as well as shops and a restaurant on the ground floor.

The plans, which take account of a neighbouring listed building, also incorporate charging points for electric cars.

Allan Mudie, senior partner at Brunton Design, said: “We are delighted and would like to thank all those involved in their assistance in bringing this positive determination.”

The site, currently occupied by a Shell filling station, is next to the former Henderson jute mill, one of the few Dundee mills to be designed by architects rather than engineers. Re-built in 1873 following a fire, the mill is now a B-listed structure.
