Plans approved for 76 new houses in Tranent

East Lothian Council has approved plans for 76 new homes at Windygoul South in Tranent.
In December 2019, planning permission in principle was granted for 561 residential units to be built at the Windygoul South site.
Approval was given last August to increase the number of units to be built to 577, which included 144 affordable units over the whole site.
Detailed planning permissions have already been granted for the majority of the Windygoul South site, and many of the residential units are now either complete or under construction.
The application, unanimously approved by the Planning Committee on Tuesday, was for the erection of 76 houses by Barratt Redrow on land at the western end of the site.
These homes are of 12 different house types and comprise detached, semi-detached, and terraced units, all of which are for private sale. The houses will be two-storey in height, have a mix of 3, 4 and 5 bedrooms, and be of a “relatively traditional pitched roof form”.
