Plans lodged for 41 homes for social rent in Dalmarnock

Thenue Housing Association has applied for planning permission for 41 units for social rent in Dalmarnock.

Plans designed by Mast Architects will see 19 flats and 22 terraced homes delivered on land between Connal Street and Springfield Road.

A mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom properties will be provided pending approval.

A design statement included with the application explains: “The development proposes to reinvigorate a neglected brownfield site… and positively impact on the wider area of the Dalmarnock regeneration.

“The design looks to reference the existing surroundings including the newly built Athletes’ Village, and with a view to the future Phase 2 of this development, opposite the site, in the form, massing and materiality of these proposals.”

Mast Architects added: “The proposed design has been developed within the wider context, in order to reference both the future planned developments, but also the high landmarks surrounding the development site, such as the multi-storey development to Dalmarnock Road and the flatted blocks flanking the Cuningar Loop footbridge.”

A spokesperson for Thenue told our sister publication Scottish Housing News: “As part of our ongoing plans to identify locations for our programme of building new homes, we have submitted an application for planning permission. If planning consent is given we propose to develop 22 houses and 19 flats with a view to being on site later this year.”
