Plans unveiled for 141 new homes in Dunfermline

Taylor Wimpey has submitted plans to build 141 new homes as part of the Kingswood development at Broomhall in Dunfermline.

The planning application outlines proposals for a mix of detached, semi-detached, and terraced homes, along with supporting infrastructure, on land adjacent to Pitreavie Business Park.

This phase forms part of the wider Broomhall masterplan, which will ultimately deliver around 2,150 new homes, two primary schools, healthcare facilities, and a range of retail and commercial spaces.

The proposed homes would be built on the southern section of the Kingswood site, marking the first phase of development.

A key feature of the plans is Willow Green, a landscaped village green at the western entrance to Kingswood. According to the planning statement, this area is designed to act as a welcoming gateway into the wider development.

“Willow Green is a key placemaking feature at the western entrance of the Kingswood development, designed to create a welcoming gateway into the Kingswood Masterplan,” it explained.

“Located at the junction of Limekilns Road and the Western Distributor Link Road, the area will feature a village green enclosed by stone walling and hedging, overlooked by rendered terraced homes that provide active frontage and a strong sense of arrival into Phase One of the Kingswood Masterplan.

“Willow Green is intended to blend natural landscape with community-focused design, enhancing both biodiversity and the visual identity of the development.

“Taylor Wimpey’s proposals for Willow Green will embrace its role as a key gateway into Kingswood and Dunfermline, delivering a distinctive sense of arrival through a carefully considered layout and architectural treatment.”

Pauline Mills, technical director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, added: “We are delighted to confirm that we have made an AMSC planning application for the development of our land at Kingswood, Dunfermline. Our proposed development forms part of the approved wider Kingswood masterplan.

“This planning application represents our significant and continued investment in the local Fife area, and we look forward to positive discussions with the local authority to progress with this development.

“Our proposed development at Kingswood will also take an industry-leading approach to biodiversity, introducing bug hotels, bird and bat boxes, bee-friendly planting, and high-quality landscaping throughout. In addition, each new home will include solar PV panels to help reduce the development’s overall carbon footprint.

“Along with an impressive range of new homes, our proposed development will also provide a range of economic benefits for the local Dunfermline area. This includes supporting new jobs for every year of construction and attracting new customers to local businesses from those who choose to live in one of the new homes this development aims to deliver.”
