Pollok flats, retail and office plans approved
A plan to knock down shops to accommodate ten new flats, and a new retail and office space in Pollok has been approved by Glasgow City Council.
Heera Dean, which owns the site and runs a business currently operating on the land at Haughburn Road, has secured permission to build the new development and demolish existing buildings.
The proposal was praised by councillors at the planning applications committee, who were impressed that five of the homes would offer four bedrooms.
Designs submitted reveal the other homes would have two and three bedrooms and there would be 16 parking spaces as well as bicycle parking, the Herald reports.
A council official said: “Overall the accommodation is very generous. It is rare to see development proposals where the majority of the accommodation has four bedrooms.”
Councillor Saqib Ahmed added: “I like this development. It is a very mixed use of the space. I always talk about how we need larger properties, which this particular development offers – two-bedroom, three-bedroom and four-bedroom properties, which is very much needed.”
Councillor Jill Pidgeon commented: “I very much welcome the development of particularly larger scale houses.”
