Port Glasgow cycle route to undergo improvements

Inverclyde Council will be carrying out works to create a dedicated cycle lane in Port Glasgow.

From the junction with Scott Way to the junction with Nos 24-28 Brown Street, the lane will be added along the full length of Ardgowan Street, including a section of Port Glasgow Road and Belhaven Street.

These works will see widening of the existing footway to allow for a 2m wide footway and a 3m cycle lane.

The proposed start date for the works is Monday 17 April 2023 with an expected duration of approximately eight weeks.

There will be no parking along this stretch whilst work is carried out. Access to and from all businesses will be maintained at all times.

Parking restrictions will be in place throughout the duration of the works. This will be monitored and enforced by Inverclyde Council’s Parking Enforcement Team. Vehicles should ensure they are clear of the no waiting cones. If a vehicle is obstructing the works and its owner cannot be contacted, the council will remove the vehicle to a safe place.

The duration of the works may be affected by adverse weather conditions. However, the council will work closely with the contractor to ensure a safe and timely completion of the project.
