Plans have been submitted to convert a former nursing home in Loanhead into 20 new homes.

Covell Matthews Architects submitted an updated planning application to Midlothian Council with calls for ‘conservative surgery’ to later extensions at outbuildings at Mayburn House.
The plans will ensure the original features of the main villa will be retained and will allow two new build wings to be constructed.
The flats will include a mix of affordable homes and properties for private sale with new build elements finished in recycled stone cladding, metal panels and smooth buff render.
The existing masonry gate posts will also be trained as part of a new stone boundary wall.
The architects wrote: “The original villa is to be retained, and the two new wings serve to enhance the building line of the main street and return into the site to create a new residential wing overlooking the newly landscaped grounds.
“Privacy of the neighbouring residential sheltered housing is respected with no windows of the new build rear wing facing the neighbouring buildings. The selective demolition will allow the reuse of existing site access which is to be widened to form allow access to a new car parking court.”
