Osprey Housing has appointed chartered civil engineer Ryan Swan as director of assets.

He takes over from Hugh Crothers, who is retiring after almost ten years in the role.

Aberdeen-born Mr Swan joins Osprey from the city’s Countesswells new town project where he had been development project manager since 2019. He has also worked on other major public infrastructure projects, including the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route and Aberdeen Royal Infirmary’s Emergency Care Centre.

He said: “Throughout my career I’ve been drawn to projects that have a positive impact on those around us and there is little more important than having a safe, warm, and affordable home.

“I look forward to the new challenges this role will bring and harnessing my experience to deliver Osprey’s priorities and aspirations.”

The social landlord currently owns and manages more than 1,800 properties across Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen City, and Moray.

Mr Swan, who studied civil engineering at the University of Aberdeen, and later construction project management at Robert Gordon University, added: “Reducing our carbon footprint and delivering our services in a sustainable way whilst improving our properties to benefit our tenants is a huge challenge, but one I’m committed to achieving for Osprey and our service users.”

Outside work, Mr Swan — who is also president of the Aberdeen Association of Civil Engineers — enjoys golf, music concerts and festivals, and spending time with his wife and two young daughters.

Osprey CEO Stacy Angus added: “We are really pleased to welcome Ryan to the Senior Leadership team at Osprey. His range of skills and knowledge bring a fresh perspective to the team and will support Osprey on the continuing journey of delivering high-quality housing fit for the future.

“Our core values drive the recruitment process and his ambition to make a difference matches the Osprey vision, making this a great appointment for us.”
