A Bathgate primary school is set to transform part of its playground after receiving a £4,000 donation from Persimmon Homes East Scotlan.
Simpson Primary Parent Council has been awarded the funding to help kick-start plans to turn an unused outdoor area into a space that promotes play, activity, and wellbeing for pupils.
The project aims to redevelop a currently underused concrete, mud, and grass area into a vibrant environment where children can burn off energy, take part in imaginative play, and build teamwork skills. The Parent Council is planning to introduce new play and sports equipment in phases, with the overall project expected to cost around £50,000.
The donation will support the first phase of the project, helping to bring the school a step closer to creating a space that supports both physical and mental wellbeing for its pupils.
A spokesperson for Simpson Primary Parent Council said: “We are delighted to receive support from Persimmon Homes as we begin plans to enhance outdoor play for our children.
“Support from local businesses is vital in helping community projects like ours turn ideas into reality, and this generous donation is an exciting first step in creating a space that will benefit pupils for years to come. Our children have asked us to say a huge thank you for helping bring this project to life.”
Laura Still, sales director, said: “We’re really pleased to support Simpson Primary Parent Council and their efforts to improve the outdoor environment for pupils.
“Projects like this make a real difference to children’s wellbeing, and it’s great to see the positive impact it will have on the school community.”
