Sky’s Livingston Campus gets planning permission

Planning permission has been given for Sky’s new Livingston Campus, marking a major milestone in the delivery of a new workplace development located in West Lothian.

The move will enable the delivery of a new campus designed with sustainability in mind, bringing together Sky’s current operations into a modern workplace for roughly 3,000 employees.

The project will replace four current buildings at Kirkton Campus as well as leased space on the Alba Campus, forming a new site spanning 15 acres and more than 21,000 m², with boosted green areas and workspaces.

Sophia Ahmad, chief executive officer of UK Consumer, Sky, said: “Securing planning approval for our Livingston Campus is a significant milestone and a vote of confidence in Scotland.

“The new campus will create a fantastic workplace for our teams while delivering lasting economic benefits for the local community and wider region.”

Gregor Poynton, MP for Livingston, said: “Sky’s decision to invest in a new Livingston campus is a major vote of confidence in our highly-skilled workforce, our local economy and West Lothian’s future as a place to do business.

“This development will help secure Sky’s presence in Livingston for decades to come while reinforcing West Lothian’s reputation as one of Scotland’s leading locations for investment, innovation and high-quality employment.”

Angela Constance, MSP for Almond Valley, said: ” This approval represents a major boost for West Lothian, bringing modern, sustainable facilities that will strengthen local employment and enhance opportunities for skills, training and wellbeing.

The plans for improved green space, active travel routes and high-quality amenities show a clear commitment to creating a campus that benefits both staff and the wider community. Alongside this, the focus on sustainability, including on-site solar panels and renewable energy, demonstrates real leadership in building for the future”

GRAHAM has been picked as principal contractor for the Livingston Campus and will support delivery as the project enters its next phase.

Chris MacLeod, regional director at GRAHAM Building North, said: “Sky’s investment in Livingston is one of the most significant workplace developments Scotland has seen in recent years, and GRAHAM is committed to delivering a campus that reflects that scale and ambition.

“We will be working closely with local suppliers and businesses throughout, ensuring the project generates real and lasting economic benefit for West Lothian and the wider region.”
