Social rent homes in Aberdour handed over to Fife Council
Aberdour affordable homes
Social rent homes have been handed over to Fife Council in Aberdour after a housing project was completed by Cala Homes (East).
The 21 social rent homes at the Inchcolm Green development off Main Street are anticipated to heighten the supply of affordable housing in the village.
Consisting of a mix of two-bedroom cottage flats and terraced houses, the homes have been built by Cala on behalf of Fife Council and will now form a part of the local authorities housing stock.
The handover represents the conclusion of an agreement signed between Cala and Fife Council during 2024.
Derek Lawson, strategic land director at Cala Homes (East), said: “By working closely with Fife Council, we were able to deliver these much-needed homes and increase the supply of affordable housing in an area where provision has been limited for many years.
“This project demonstrates what can be achieved when developers and local authorities work together to help address housing need and deliver homes for local communities.”
The homes are an addition to Fife Council’s wider Affordable Housing Programme, which continues to invest in new social housing within the region.
Councillor Judy Hamilton, Fife council’s housing spokesperson, said: “Developments like this really do make a difference for individuals and families looking for a place to call home. We know how high the demand is for council housing across Fife, so every new home delivered is important.
“These are high-quality houses that will provide comfortable, affordable living for local people for years to come.”
The homes are now at the stage of getting prepared for allocation.
