Solar farm approved for site of historic Stirling mansion

A proposed solar farm on the grounds of an A-listed building in Kippen, nine miles west of Stirling, has been approved by councillors.

The 315 sq m development, consisting of 78 solar panels, will be installed on a field at Dun Eaglais on Station Road, the Stirling Observer reports.

The solar farm will be located 60 metres east of the early 1900s mansion at the site.

Planning officials noted that the farm will be “located well away from the listed building … which complies with supplementary guidance on the historic environment relating to energy efficiency and microrenewables”.
