Keepmoat has won a further £10.9 million sustainability contract with South Lanarkshire Council which will benefit a number of local communities through major energy efficiency improvements to people’s homes.

The contract is the second phase of a large scale, street by street, community energy efficiency programme designed to bring tailored energy savings, reduced fuel bills and warmer homes to local communities.

The contract will deliver a variety of insulation technologies including cavity wall, loft and external insulation. Properties that are off the national gas grid will also benefit from what will be the single largest air source heat pump project in the UK.

Council tenants and homeowners will equally benefit from the project which once again demonstrates South Lanarkshire Council’s commitment to reducing fuel poverty and driving a sustainable future along with Keepmoat’s ability to deliver large scale projects on behalf of its regeneration partners.

Ann Gee, executive director of housing and technical resources at South Lanarkshire Council, said: “Energy efficiency, and opportunities to reduce fuel consumption and bills, is highly important to the council and we are delighted to be working to bring a variety of energy improvements to households across South Lanarkshire.”

The project benefits from financial support from South Lanarkshire Council and the Scottish Government through its Home Energy Efficiency Programmes, known as HEEPS. In addition, Keepmoat has contributed ECO Funding directly from Utility Partners based on the carbon savings achieved as a result of the overall investment.

Keepmoat has recently provided effective energy efficiency solutions for a number of Local Authorities and Registered Social Landlords across Scotland by working to source public sector grants and secure funding from energy companies who are obligated to reduce their carbon emissions.
