Stephen Flynn, MP for Aberdeen South and SNP leader in Westminster, recently visited Barratt Homes’ King’s Gallop development in Aberdeen.
He met with the site’s manager, Marc Duncan, who received a Quality Award in NHBC’s Pride in the Job Awards in 2025 for his high-quality work and careful attention to build detail. Mr Flynn toured the King’s Gallop estate, visited the new homes and learned about modern house building.
Accompanied by Mr Duncan and NHBC’s regional director for Scotland, Stefan Szymoszowskyj, Mr Flynn explored the development which features a mixture of three- and four-bedroom terraced, semi-detached and detached homes. An easy commute to the A90 and nearby suburbs of Cults and Kingswells, the area benefits from a new primary school, parks and retail amenities.
Mr Flynn learned about the advantages of timber frame construction, solar panels, increased energy efficiency and the quality standards modern homes are built to. He also discussed construction skills and the efforts of NHBC and the wider industry to promote careers in house building.
Stefan Szymoszowskyj, regional director for Scotland at NHBC, said: “I’d like to thank Mr Flynn for taking the time to join us at King’s Gallop and for touring the site. The development is a great example of quality, modern house building and Mr Duncan is rightly proud of his team’s exemplary work.
“These homes will be enjoyed by their residents for decades to come and we’re very grateful Mr Flynn took time out of his schedule to learn about the important work being undertaken in the new build industry.”
The Rt Hon Stephen Flynn MP said: “It was a pleasure to visit the award-winning site at Barratt Homes’ King’s Gallop and see firsthand the homes being built and the high-quality jobs brought to the city too. The innovation in terms of domestic solar energy and heat pump technology will mean these homes will save people on bills and be enjoyed for years to come – the site is a shining example of the value of our construction sector and the benefit to Aberdeen that it brings.”
Marc Duncan, site manager at Barratt Homes’ King’s Gallop development, added: “It was a privilege to show Mr Flynn and Mr Szymoszowskyj around our new development at King’s Gallop, and a true honour to receive such a prestigious award.
“Homes are the foundation of strong communities, and we take seriously our responsibility to create places where people feel secure, supported and proud to live. Delivering homes of this standard is truly a team effort, and this recognition reflects the dedication, skill and commitment of everyone involved.”
