Strathallan School completes refurbishment of Prep boarding house
Strathallan School has completed a significant refurbishment of Riley House, its Prep boarding facility for pupils aged seven to 13, as part of a wider investment in the school’s boarding provision.
The relaunch coincides with the appointment of a new Housemistress, Lindsey Thompson, who will lead the next phase of development within the boarding community.
The upgraded house now features redesigned dormitories for four to five pupils, an improved Atrium, and a modernised communal space aimed at strengthening the day-to-day experience of Prep boarders. The refurbishment expands the house’s capacity to up to 40 boarders, meeting increased demand for both full and flexi-boarding options from families across Perthshire and beyond.
New Housemistress Lindsey Thompson said: “It feels really exciting. I’m so thrilled to be the Housemistress, especially now the House has been all done up for the children. It feels so homely, and I think there’s going to be a lot of fun in Riley House. My family and I already feel part of this community, and we’re so excited to welcome the boarders in and help them make Riley House their own.”
Thompson joins with an established connection to Strathallan. Her husband, Jim, is the school’s Director of Sport. The family, including their children Orla, Janie and Harris, will live onsite in Riley House.
Head of prep at Strathallan School, Emma Lalani, said: “Boarding is a core part of the Strathallan Prep experience, and this refurbishment significantly strengthens what we can offer our families. Parents want to know their children are in a safe, supportive environment that helps them grow in confidence, and Riley House now reflects that more than ever. With Lindsey leading the House, our boarders will benefit from consistent care, clear structure and the sense of community that sits at the heart of Prep boarding.”
