The Structural Timber Association (STA) has announced the appointment of Darren Jarman, managing director of Lowfield Timber Frames, to its board of directors.

Jarman has more than 25 years of experience in the UK timber construction sector, across design, technical development, manufacturing and business leadership.

In response to his appointment, Jarman said: “Initially, I was surprised yet honoured to be asked to take up such a position.

“Having been involved first-hand with some of the STA’s work, much of which goes unseen by many, I know the association has a crucial role to play in supporting the industry, and it’s something I’m proud to be part of.”

Jarman added: “I’m passionate about the future of our industry, and this role provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to its continued development.”

Jarman started his career as a timber frame designer, but later progressed through technical and operational leadership positions to spearhead Lowfield Timber Frames through a period of major growth.

Andrew Orriss, interim chief executive officer of the Structural Timber Association, said: “Darren has a wealth of experience within the timber industry and will bring valuable insight to the STA Board.

“As a group, we’re continually looking for new ways to deliver long-term value for our members, and I’m confident that Darren’s expertise and perspective will help shape our strategic direction and strengthen the support we provide to the sector.”
