Building services contractor John N Dunn Group says it has entered the new financial year with a buoyant forward order book, much of it sustainability-focused.

The Newcastle-based business, founded in 1893, provides a wide range of building services, including mechanical, electrical and renewable energy solutions.

The company works across the commercial, residential and public sectors, delivering over 7,000 projects across its Newcastle, Leeds and Edinburgh offices.

With a workforce of 300 employees, the group operates throughout the UK, with a service area stretching from Doncaster to Dundee.

The group today said its strategy to integrate renewable energy solutions into its core business is continuing to pay off.

This has been reflected in a marked increase in demand for low-carbon technologies, including solar photovoltaic systems, electric vehicle charging points and air source heat pumps.

In the past year, the group has installed 250 heat pumps, representing a 50% rise in installations compared to the previous year.

As part of its commitment to this growing sector, 40 staff members have recently been trained in air source heat pump installation.

Group chairman Stephen Bilclough said: “Our approach to combining renewable energy with our mechanical and electrical services is resonating with clients, reflected in our strong start to the financial year.

“As demand for sustainable building solutions grows, we are proud to be able to provide integrated, low-carbon systems that help our clients achieve their long-term goals.

“Renewables is not just an aspect of our work, it’s central to everything we do. From the energy systems we install to the apprentices we train, we’re committed to shaping a greener, more sustainable future for our industry.”

In Scotland, where the company is seeing sustainable growth in the renewables sector, John N Dunn Group is playing a key role in helping its customers transition to sustainable energy solutions.

Colin Langley, managing director of the group’s Edinburgh office, said: “Scotland has shown a particularly strong increase in its appetite for sustainable, low-carbon technologies.

“As is reflected across the entire group, demand for comprehensive services that span plumbing, electrical and renewable energy systems, is on the rise as businesses and organisations across all sectors look to improve their energy efficiency.”

John N Dunn Group will soon welcome seven new plumbing apprentices across the business – four in Scotland, two in Leeds and one in Newcastle – as part of its on-going strategy to train the next generation of sustainable construction leaders.
