The housebuilder is preparing to deliver around 250 new homes in a mix of two-bedroom apartments, two and three-bedroom terraced homes, two and three-bedroom semi-detached homes, four-bedroom townhouses and three, four and five-bedroom detached homes of which 25% will be affordable. The land outlined for the proposed development is the balance of the site identified as allocated for housing development in the Local Development Plan.

This is the initial stage of the process for this proposed development, and Taylor Wimpey East Scotland will now begin a programme of community engagement which will include a public consultation event from 2pm-8pm on 12 September 2019 at Bilston Miners Welfare and Social Club. Details of this event will be shared again with the local community nearer the time.

The public consultation event gives Taylor Wimpey East Scotland and Hallam Land Management an opportunity to share their proposals for the development with members of the public, and to listen to their views as the plans for this key development evolve over the coming months.

Pauline Mills, land & planning director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, added: “Our Proposal of Application Notice for phase 2 of residential development on land at Seafield Road in Bilston allows us to begin the very important process of community engagement to discuss our development proposals for the area, which will include a public consultation event on 12 September 2019 in Bilston Miners Welfare and Social Club.

“We are fully committed to a detailed programme of engagement with local communities throughout the lifetime of our developments, and a public consultation event as part of the overall process allows us to understand and consider the views from as many stakeholders as possible as we develop our proposal.

“Whilst the event will not be held until 12 September 2019, we would like to take this opportunity of encouraging as many people as possible to be involved in our community consultation programme in order to share their views so that we may consider these as we develop our emerging development proposal.  We will take the opportunity to promote the event locally nearer the time.”
