Taylor Wimpey donates van to support Lighthouse Charity campaign

Taylor Wimpey and the Lighthouse Charity are working together to boost access to mental health and wellbeing support for those who work in construction.

The housebuilder has now donated a new van to the Lighthouse Charity, in a bid to support its team to get to more workers across the UK with mental health awareness talks, forming part of the #MakeItVisible campaign.

The Lighthouse Charity’s #MakeItVisible team goes to construction sites to share their lived experiences, in an effort to tackle the stigma of starting a conversation and creating a safe space where people can open up.

As of yet in 2026, Lighthouse has gone to 506 construction sites across the UK and Ireland and spoken to 27,000 workers to raise awareness of its free and confidential 24/7 support, which covers all areas of emotional, physical and financial wellbeing.

Through these visits, the #MakeItVisible team has been able to give swift support to 40 workers who conveyed suicidal thoughts, and encourage others to look for help if they are struggling.

Taylor Wimpey, which is a signatory to Lighthouse’s Building Mental Health Charter, is working with the charity to deliver mental health training to employees.

The van donation builds on this collaboration, enhancing Taylor Wimpey’s focus on aiding the wellbeing of construction workers and tackling the wellbeing issues facing the industry.

The van adds to the charity’s fleet of tour vehicles.

Sarah Bolton, chief executive officer of the Lighthouse, said: “Having an additional vehicle to reach out to our front-line trades means so much.

“It will allow us to extend our message of support even further and ensure that our workforce and their families know about the help available, and how to reach out for that support.”

Rose Sandell, group communities director and chair of Taylor Wimpey’s Charity Committee, said: “The health and wellbeing of our employees is vitally important and the Lighthouse Charity is doing fantastic work in raising awareness of the free, confidential support services available to construction workers who may need it.

“By reducing stigma and encouraging people to talk about their mental health, the charity’s #MakeItVisible campaign is making a real difference, and I hope the donation of a new van will help them to reach even more people who may not know where to turn.”
