Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has announced that, in partnership with First Step Community Project in Musselburgh, it will donate £25 for each new home sold and legally completed within phase 2 of 149 new homes at its Ravensheugh development in nearby Wallyford.

A total sum of £3,725 will be paid to First Step as work at the development progresses, and signals a long-term relationship with Taylor Wimpey East Scotland. The money will go directly to supporting the work that First Step provides locally in Musselburgh.

Based in Musselburgh, First Step aims to provide opportunities for local families with young children to make positive choices in their lives by providing supportive centre-based and outreach activities which encourage parents and children to develop their self-esteem, confidence and skills. There are a wide range of services and activities provided which include parenting support, nursery provision, groups and courses for parents, counselling, dedicated support for young parents and a grandparent’s group.

Tina Pollock, project manager for First Step said: “We are extremely grateful for the support that we have received from Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, and we can’t thank them enough for their generous donation.

“This money will be put to work to help us deliver our range of projects to the local community in Musselburgh. On behalf of everyone who uses the services that our project provides locally, I would like to say a huge thank you.”

Kirsty McGill, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be able to support First Steps Community Project in this meaningful way.

“Our announcement signals the creation of a relationship with a hardworking community group, and a link between the new community emerging at our Ravensheugh development and the existing communities of Musselburgh and Wallyford. Working with First Step is a real honour and we are extremely proud to be showing our support in this way.

“Being able to support and work with local charities and organisations that surround our developments means a great deal to us, and it’s always lovely to know that we are helping to make a difference to the lives of people in our local communities.”

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland’s donation to First Step Community Project is one of the many contributions being made by the house builder towards community facilities and infrastructure in the wider area.
