Taylor Wimpey gives lesson in safety to Winchburgh schoolchildren

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland returned to school this month to remind the children at Hawkhill Primary in Winchburgh about health and safety, as construction at its development of new homes at nearby Seton Rise is well underway.

With the Easter holidays just around the corner, construction well underway and the show homes at the development open, it’s a busy time at the development, so the homebuilder was keen to remind the children of the dangers of playing near any construction site.

The visit was a helpful way for Taylor Wimpey to raise awareness of the children’s need to be extra vigilant as the building of its new homes progresses.

Being proactive with local schools has proven an effective deterrent in the past, as Peter Goldie, site health and safety advisor for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, explained: “Health and safety in and around our construction areas is of vital importance to Taylor Wimpey.

“Taking this type of proactive approach with local schools allows us to reinforce just how important it is for children to stay away from building sites, and it gives us the chance to remind the children that building sites are not playgrounds!”

Kirsten Patience, head teacher at Hawkhill Primary School in Winchburgh, added: “I was delighted to welcome Peter from Taylor Wimpey East Scotland into our school to remind children never to play near any construction site. It’s great that Taylor Wimpey understands the importance of our children’s safety and has adopted an interactive, proactive approach to appeal to our pupils.

“Following Taylor Wimpey’s presentation, the children have been tasked with creating health and safety posters that will be considered for display at the development to remind those in the wider local community never to go near a live construction site.”
