Taylor Wimpey makes detailed application for Cowie development

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has submitted an Approval of Matters Specified in Conditions (AMSC) application to Stirling Council for the development of land south of Bannockburn Road, known as Berryhills, in Cowie.

These proposals seek approval for the design and construction of 417 new energy-efficient homes, which will form part of a broader masterplan vision for the area.

Planning Permission in Principle (PPP) has already been secured for the development, and this AMSC application represents the next step towards a much anticipated new development in Stirling.

The application will set out the vision for new homes, open space, sustainable drainage, and high-quality play areas within the master plan. The application will also outline key measures with respect to biodiversity enhancements to the new homes, such as the inclusion of swift bricks, beehives, pollinator-friendly planting and hedgehog highways.

The proposed development will deliver 417 new high-quality, energy-efficient homes, 60 of which will be affordable homes delivered on-site. These new affordable homes complement the 59 affordable homes already approved on the site.

The scope of private new homes will include two, three, and four-bedroom homes, while the affordable properties will comprise a range of new homes suited to the identified housing need in the area, including a selection of homes designed to meet the needs of larger families as well as users reliant on wheelchairs.

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland’s plans for the development include new homes, extensive parkland, community green spaces, biodiversity improvements and high-quality play areas for children. Particular care has been taken when designing the pedestrian and cycle connections through the development to ensure that active travel forms a key design principle for the development.

These enhancements will prove beneficial to both new and existing residents.

This application forms a key part of a wider masterplan vision for Berryhills and will provide a range of financial contributions payable to Stirling Council subject to a Section 75 agreement.
