The 45.6-acre site is already identified for housing as part of a wider masterplan and it benefits from having a Planning Permission in Principle, which was granted by the local authority in February 2017.

The approved application for Glenboig represents a significant investment in the local area by Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, and the development will deliver a range of two and three-bedroom semi-detached homes, as well as four-bedroom detached homes in a variety of styles and sizes.

The development integrates with the extension to the nature reserve, provides new footpath connections, a centralised area of open space and stone sculptures to represent the site’s agricultural history. The design has also been granted ‘Building for Nature’ accreditation.

In addition to the Community Hub adjacent to the site, the proposal includes several other benefits through a Section 75 Legal Agreement with North Lanarkshire Council which will see contributions towards education, road upgrades and play facilities. This site also forms part of the Gartcosh and Glenboig Community Growth Area, which encourages the development of over 3,000 homes, as well as the provision of enhanced community amenities which are connected by the Seven Lochs Wetland Park, which is Scotland’s largest urban nature park.

Colin Blair, technical director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “Taylor Wimpey West Scotland is delighted to confirm that we have secured planning permission for the land off Main Street in Glenboig.

“As well as an impressive range of new homes, our development will provide a range of economic benefits for the local Glenboig area which will include jobs, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses.

“We believe this development will be a great addition to the local area and it also complements our other developments in North Lanarkshire. Our development of new homes in Glenboig will provide potential buyers’ access to a great place to call home that benefits from an exceptional range of local amenities.”
