Taylor Wimpey to consult ahead of Portlethen homes application

Taylor Wimpey to consult ahead of Portlethen homes application

This public consultation event is the first of two events that will be held.

Taylor Wimpey plans to make a planning application to Aberdeenshire Council for the provision of around 250-300 new homes through the development of land to the north of Thistle Drive, Portlethen, following allocation of the land within the Aberdeenshire Council Local Development Plan.

Ahead of this application, Taylor Wimpey is hosting an in-person public consultation event on Thursday 17 November 2022 from 3pm-7pm at Portlethen Academy, Bruntland Road in Portlethen to keep the local community fully informed of its development proposals.

This public consultation event is the first of two events that will be held to give Taylor Wimpey an opportunity to share its proposals for the development with members of the public, and to listen to their views as its plans evolve over the coming months. A further event will take place early next year.

Andrew Roberts, strategic land & planning director for Taylor Wimpey in Scotland, said: “Our public consultation event is an important part of our community engagement strategy for a new development because it allows us to discuss our development proposals for the area directly with key stakeholders and members of the community. It is also an opportunity for us to take their views into consideration as we develop our emerging scheme.

“The land to the north of Thistle Drive is allocated for housing within the updated Aberdeenshire Council Local Development Plan, and our application for around 250-300 new homes will include 25% affordable properties as well as a mix of homes to appeal to a range of home buyers.

“The range of potential benefits of the development are wide ranging and will include community contributions which will be agreed as part of our discussions with the Local Authority.”

He added: “Our in-person event on Thursday 17 November is an ideal opportunity for members of the local community to meet our design team to find out more about our proposals, and we will encourage those who attend to complete our feedback forms. For those unable to join us in person, full details about our proposals and an opportunity to leave feedback will also be available on our website

“As well as an impressive range of new homes, our development would provide a range of economic benefits for the local Portlethen area which includes supporting new jobs for every year of construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses from those who choose to live in one of the new homes this development aims to deliver.”
