Third Don Crossing foundations laid ahead of 2015 opening date

The foundations of Aberdeen’s Third Don Crossing are set to be laid, STV has reported.

The concrete bridgework is expected to be in place today, paving the way for further work on the £18 million scheme.

The bridge, which will open in late 2015, will connect roads north and south of the River Don.

But concerns have been raised over the over congestion and noise pollution in nearby Tillydrone.

A public consultation was held with members of the Bridge of Don and Danestone communities earlier this year.

The Third Don scheme, which was opposed by the city’s Labour-led administration, was green-lit in December 2012.
