International construction and property consultancy Thomas & Adamson, part of Egis group, has appointed experienced project manager Mark Humphries as a director.
Mark Humphries brings over two decades of industry experience to Thomas & Adamson’s project management division, most recently as a partner at Gardiner & Theobald. Prior experience also includes roles at Mott MacDonald and a spell as a self-employed consultant. Before turning to a career in the construction sector, Mark played professional football for teams including Aberdeen and Leeds United in the 1990s.
High-profile projects that he has been involved in include the £250 million Sighthill Transformational Regeneration project, which is the largest UK regeneration scheme outside of London, encompassing 1,000 new homes, new roads, transport infrastructure, drainage and utilities to connect the community.
He has also supported the development of XLCC’s £2 billion subsea cable manufacturing plant in Ayrshire, which is the UK’s first high-voltage direct current (HVDC) factory; the £70 million build-to-rent residential scheme at Candleriggs Square; a £68m extension and refurbishment project for the National Galleries of Scotland; and the £80m Avenues Project for Glasgow City Council, which aims to reshape the city centre landscape with new cycle lanes, green infrastructure, connectivity and improved pedestrian access.
Focusing on the west of Scotland and based in Glasgow, Mark Humphries will support Thomas & Adamson with its continued growth and expansion into new sectors, working with established clients and across new opportunities. The firm offers a full suite of services alongside project management, including cost management, building surveying and construction safety.
Last year, Thomas & Adamson was acquired by global architectural, advisory, construction engineering and mobility services firm Egis, bringing access to a broader range of services to clients.
Zander Muego, director at Thomas & Adamson, said: “Mark has extensive experience in project management spanning two decades of working in Scotland, and we are pleased to welcome him into the fold. As a team, we are working across a range of exciting buildings in all kinds of sectors that will benefit from Mark’s support and guidance, adding to the expertise we have currently. As part of Egis we are now seeing even more collaborative work coming through, so it is an ideal time to strengthen the team.”
Mark Humphries added: “I’ve worked with various members of the Thomas & Adamson team throughout my years in the industry, and the offer to join the project management division came at an opportune time. I am looking forward to the new challenges that it will present, with the chance to help shape the future direction for the department, as well as day-to-day involvement in projects.”
