Throsk whisky storage facility recommended for approval

A new whisky storage warehouse scheme at Bandeath Industrial Estate in Throsk has moved a big step towards becoming a reality after a planning application for the site was recommended for approval.

Submitted to Stirling Council by Ian Macleod Distillers (IMD), the development will house a complex of modern buildings, providing additional capacity for the company’s operations across Scotland. Anchored in the industrial area of Stirling, these will comprise nine whisky storage warehouses, a blend centre associated to a tank farm, and a well-equipped office building.

The firm initially submitted a Proposal of Application Notice at the end of last year and then submitted a formal planning application in April.

Ahead of a meeting of Stirling Council’s planning and regulation panel on Tuesday, planners have urged councillors to give the green light subject to a legal agreement being drawn up over a financial contribution over roads and other conditions over the development being met.

The plans were initially met with a holding objection by SEPA on the grounds of a lack of information, but the developer has now sought to address the concerns raised with revisions to its initial plans for the site.
