Highland homebuilder Tulloch Homes has handed over the ‘Cup of Kindness’ to law firm Harper Macleod after raising more than £5,400 for local mental health charity Mikeysline.
The ‘Cup of Kindness’ is a fundraising challenge that sees local organisations hold the trophy for three months at a time, raising as much money as possible before passing it on.
The handover comes during Mikeysline’s tenth anniversary year and forms part of its ‘Bee the Change’ campaign – a regional initiative inspiring individuals, schools and workplaces to take small, meaningful actions that support better mental health and wellbeing.
During their three months with the cup, Tulloch Homes employees threw themselves into the challenge with a Christmas jumper day, festive raffle, a 500-mile walking pledge, a bake sale and dress down Fridays. Their efforts were boosted by match funding from Tulloch parent company The Springfield Group, bringing the final amount raised to £5,470.28.
Lorna Cameron, HR director of Tulloch Homes, said: “Taking part in the Cup of Kindness has been a special experience for us. It brought our teams together, gave us a chance to mark the start of our centenary year in a meaningful way, and most importantly, helped support a charity that makes such a difference across the Highlands.
“We are incredibly proud of our employees and the community who got behind our fundraising for Mikeysline. We’re delighted to now hand it over to Harper Macleod and wish them every success with their fundraising.”
Harper Macleod will now hold the Cup of Kindness for the next three months, raising funds in support of Mikeysline’s work across the north of Scotland.
Ewan Stafford, partner at Harper Macleod, added: “We’re grateful to receive the Cup of Kindness from Tulloch Homes and to continue supporting Mikeysline’s vital work across the Highlands and beyond. Community and compassion are at the heart of everything we do at Harper Macleod, and this initiative gives us a meaningful way to contribute to mental health awareness and support.
“We look forward to rallying our team over the next three months to raise funds and awareness for a cause that touches so many lives.”
Emily Stokes, CEO of Mikeysline, added: “Fundraising through the Cup of Kindness is more than a financial contribution - it’s a statement of compassion and solidarity. Every penny raised helps Mikeysline to be there for someone when they need it most, whether that’s through our text-based, face-to-face or community outreach peer support led services.
“In our tenth anniversary year, it’s a symbolic initiative designed to highlight the power of community, the importance of looking out for one another, and the vital role that local businesses can play in supporting mental health and suicide prevention.”
