Clark Contracts has completed a 12-home development in Penicuik for Ark Housing Association.

The project comprises 12 new, affordable, cottage flats on the site of a former care home at Windsor Square, Penicuik.

The development provides two one-bedroom and ten two-bedroom cottage flats for social rent, designed to fit with the local context and retain an area of open space. Each new home will also benefit from air source heat pumps and PV panels.

Gerry Cummins, director at Clark Contracts, said: “It was fantastic to work with new customer Ark Housing Association on the delivery of these new homes in Penicuik. In recent years, our residential experience has grown, and we are excited to add this project to our portfolio.”

Caryn Innes, director of development and customer experience at Ark Housing Association, added: “Clark Contracts have provided valuable support to Ark to complete this affordable housing development.

“Throughout all stages of the process, a partnership approach has been demonstrated and the site team built a great working relationship with Ark and Summers-Inman to achieve a high quality of finish.”

The project gained funding from the Scottish Government, which provided £1.5m in support through a combination of direct grant and a donation from its Charitable Bonds programme.
