West Lothian community hub to be enhanced after £1.2m grant

West Lothian Council has secured £1.2 million of grant funding to expand the planned new replacement community hub for Stoneyburn.
The project has received the funding boost from the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund, which is funded by the Scottish Government in partnership with local authorities.
West Lothian Council has already allocated £3.1m for the replacement centre, and the additional £1.2m will allow a larger centre to be constructed at a total cost of £4.3m.
Consultation will be held with the local residents over the best design of the inside space to meet the needs of the Stoneyburn community.
Lawrence Fitzpatrick, leader of West Lothian Council, said: “I welcome the support from the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund to deliver an improved community facility for Stoneyburn.
“Their contribution of £1.2m, in addition to the £3.1m already allocated by West Lothian Council, will enable a new modern hub for local community groups and events to be built, to meet the needs of Stoneyburn residents.”
The current Stoneyburn Community Education Centre is being demolished after issues around reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) panels were found.
Independent structural investigations were carried out, and it was closed in January 2024 on structural engineers’ advice.
