Wheatley eyes empty Glasgow land for mid-market homes development

Wheatley Group has been given the green light to build 112 mid-market homes on Cook Street in Tradeston, just south of the city centre.

The properties will be managed by Lowther Homes and are intended for households earning less than £55,000 a year who may struggle to afford private rent or have no priority for social housing. The site was previously used for industrial purposes, however, all buildings were demolished, leaving it vacant.

On completion, the development will provide high-quality flats for mid-market rent, with opportunity for home working and a private garden. Over two blocks, the development will include a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom properties with 10% of the allocation earmarked for those who are physically disabled or wheelchair users.
