Whittam Cox unveils strategic rebrand

Architecture practice Whittam Cox has unveiled a strategic rebrand built around the defined purpose of being ‘progressive by design’.

Operating nationally from studios in Chesterfield, Leeds, London, and Dundee, the company has worked with clients and partners to shape places that support everyday urban life for more than 50 years. As its projects and thinking have progressed, Whittam Cox felt it was time for its brand to do the same.

Developed in collaboration with creative studio Rabbithole, the refreshed identity is not a cosmetic change. It is a sharper articulation of who the practice is, how it works, and the impact it seeks to create.

A spokesperson said: “Architecture is operating in a fast-changing environment — commercially, socially, and environmentally. Whittam Cox’s response is a commitment to continuous improvement: improving how we collaborate, improve how we design, and improve how we deliver.

“Progressive by design captures that mindset. It reflects the practice’s belief in aligning creativity with commercial performance, combining strong conceptual thinking with technical rigour, and delivering places that work — for clients, communities, and the long term.”

Bringing greater clarity and focus, the new brand introduces:

  • Clearer, more concise messaging
  • Stronger project storytelling
  • More human-centred imagery
  • A new ‘Thinking’ platform sharing insight and opinion from people across the practice

Nick Riley, managing executive director, said: “Progressive by design reflects our purpose and direction as a practice. We’re building on a strong legacy and profile, but we know we can’t stand still. Our focus is on continually improving how we work and how we deliver — creating places that respond to change, support long-term value, and enhance everyday urban life.”
