Work starts on 30-home development in Bridgend

Construction is now underway on a new 30-home development by Lochay Homes in the village of Bridgend.

Situated adjacent to Bridgend Golf Club, the development will deliver a collection of 18 three- and four-bedroom homes for private sale, with spacious layouts, open-plan living areas and flexible spaces suited to home working and everyday life.

Additionally, the development will deliver 12 two-bedroom homes for social rent, helping to increase the supply of affordable housing suited to young families within the local area.

Sustainability is central to the development, with every home featuring energy-efficient heating systems, air source heat pumps and EV charging points as standard. Homes at Willowdean will be priced from £280,000.

Select homes in the development will qualify for the newly announced First Home Fund, which provides first-time buyers with an equity contribution of up to £10,000 towards the purchase of a home valued at up to £300,000.

Initial site preparation works are now underway, marking a key milestone in the delivery of the development, with construction expected to complete in Spring 2027. A second phase, featuring a new range of house types, is planned to commence later this year.

Jamie Thomson, director at Lochay Homes, said: “At Willowdean, our focus is on delivering thoughtfully designed homes that reflect how people live today. The layouts have been carefully considered to provide flexible, practical spaces that work for modern lifestyles, whether that’s home working or accommodating growing families.

“As a smaller-scale development, Willowdean gives us the opportunity to take a considered approach to design and ensure the homes complement the local area. It’s exciting to see work now underway and progress being made on bringing these homes to market.”
