How to do Business with the Construction Industry
Supplier Development Programme launches new webinar to help Scottish SMEs win work in the construction industry
The Supplier Development Programme (SDP) is set to launch a new series of practical events designed to help small businesses access private sector opportunities. The construction industry will be the focus of the first session.
Scottish-based SMEs looking to grow their construction business and secure new contracts are being encouraged to explore opportunities in the private sector through a new webinar from SDP. The first session, How to do Business with the Construction Industry, takes place online on Tuesday 24 November 2026, from 1:30pm to 3pm. It will explore how businesses can find, bid for and win subcontract opportunities, including work within Tier 1 and Tier 2 supply chains.
Navigating the construction market can present challenges for small businesses. Understanding where opportunities are advertised, which pre-qualification systems contractors use and what evidence buyers expect is key. This FREE webinar will help Scottish SMEs understand how to access construction supply chains, prepare for subcontracting opportunities and meet the requirements of larger contractors.
During the session, SDP’s Procurement Expert will explore the differences between public and private sector procurement, pre-qualification systems and their associated costs, and the steps required to become tender ready. The session will also cover bid writing, requests for quotation (RFQs), requests for information (RFIs), accreditations and health and safety requirements.
The new series forms part of SDP’s wider commitment to helping Scottish SMEs strengthen their tendering capability, access new markets and grow their businesses. By helping smaller suppliers compete for opportunities in private sector supply chains, the programme also supports the wider ambition of community wealth building in Scotland.
How to attend:
The webinar will take place online, on Tuesday 24 November 2026, from 1:30pm to 3pm. Scottish SMEs can find further details and register to attend through the Supplier Development Programme website.
