Covanburn Contracts has an exciting opportunity for a strategic analytical engineer with an entrepreneurial flair to fill a brand new Contracts Director position within the company. This is a very senior role with great future potential. We are looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking individual to help us take Covanburn to the next level.
Who We Are
We are a civil engineering and heritage restoration contractor operating for more than two decades, based in East Kilbride and operating across Scotland and occasionally further afield. At Covanburn our motto is “Restore, Repair, Regenerate”. Our work ranges from core civil engineering works to major heritage restoration projects and major regeneration projects.

Covanburn is an ambitious company and we are now seeking a Contracts Director who understands the identity of the business and can help us further expand into our areas of interest.
We are looking for an individual who possesses technical excellence, a passion for the industry and an innovative mind. We want you, as a key member of our team, to have a strong initiative and be an enthusiastic part of our forward plan.
Our Contracts Director will:
- Have extensive experience in the industry
- Have a proven track record of managing and coordinating the delivery of projects in a similar business environment
- Have a degree in civil engineering (or an HNC at minimum, if technical excellence and relevant experience can be demonstrated)
- Have excellent market knowledge
- Have an existing network of contacts
- Have working knowledge of the building sector (desirable but not essential)
- Have working knowledge of the heritage restoration sector (desirable but not essential)
- Have a full UK driving licence
What you will do:
In this crucial role in the company you will ultimately manage the successful delivery of projects, liaising at the tender stage with our dedicated team, and co-ordinate our Contract Managers to ensure a smooth project journey.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing contracts, drawings, specifications and creating programmes before works commence
- Working with the Managing Director, Contracts Managers, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure projects are properly planned and resourced
- Monitoring progress against agreed programmes and KPIs, monitoring project costs and handling delays and challenges effectively
- Acting as a key senior contact for clients and key stakeholders throughout the duration of projects
- Having strong knowledge of industry health and safety requirements and ensuring compliance
- Creating strong and enduring relationships with existing clients
- Identifying potential leads and cultivating relationships with new clients in our particular areas of interest
