Principal Construction Manager

We are a long-established, medium-sized civil engineering contractor based in North Ayrshire, delivering infrastructure and public realm projects across Scotland. 

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Principal Construction Manager to oversee and coordinate construction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, with a particular emphasis on civil engineering. This role requires excellent leadership abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage construction projects from the planning phase through to delivery on site
  • Oversee site operations, project timelines and contract costs
  • Ensure safety compliance and adherence to all relevant statutory and industry standards at all times
  • Liaise with clients, sub-contractors and regulatory bodies
  • Mentor and guide Contract managers and office-based members of the Contracts team
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation across project execution
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to all relevant construction standards and regulations

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Principal or Senior Construction Manager or similar role within the construction/civil engineering industry
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Relevant professional qualifications in construction management or civil engineering are preferred

Pay: £55,000.00-£75,000.00 per year
