The number of companies in Scotland filing for administration has hit its highest Q1 rate since before COVID-19, with Building & Construction companies among the sectors most impacted.

Melrose-based construction company J S Crawford Contracts (Borders) Limited has appointed provisional liquidators. Operational since 1946 and specialising in residential house building, J S Crawford faced severe financial strain due to difficulties on a construction contract.

Dundee-based Newman Bonar Ltd has ceased trading.

A Dundee safety and data infrastructure specialist that was formed in the wake of the collapse of McGill in 2019 has itself succumbed to administration. Administrators were appointed for Panacea Fire and Security Ltd in October, though the company ceased trading in June.
