Developer plans hundreds of Aberdeenshire homes

Claymore HomesClaymore Homes has unveiled plans to build hundreds of homes across three sites in Aberdeenshire.

The Peterhead firm has tabled a proposal for a second phase of 31 properties at its Merryhillock housing scheme, to the west of Fraserburgh.

The first phase of the development is already underway. It will provide homes for more than 500 families once completed.

In a design statement, submitted to Aberdeenshire Council’s planning team, a Claymore spokesman said: “The site is the second phase of the Claymore Homes development at Greenbank Village in Fraserburgh which forms part of the approved Merryhillock master plan.

“The first phase is well under way and is sold out and a high demand exists for the second phase.

“It is now essential for the company work programme to secure a further consent as part of the overall master plan.”

The developer has also lodged an application to build 222 homes on the outskirts of Peterhead.

The development at Greenacres, Wester Clerkhill, which is next to the A90 Aberdeen to Fraserburgh road, would also include space for play parks and green areas.

Members of the public can now comment on the plans.

Finally, Claymore has expressed an interested in developing a large site to the west of the Buchan Coast village of Cruden Bay.

Detailed plans for the first phase of work – believed to be up to 100 homes – will be brought to Aberdeenshire Council for consideration at a later date. The site is already zoned for 200 homes and employment and community space in Aberdeenshire Council’s Local Development Plan. But parts of the site – which is to the east of the village next to the A975 Cruden Bay to Newburgh road – could be at risk of flooding. An assessment will need to be carried out before planning permission could be approved.
