Robertson Group has applied for planning permission for its £40 million mixed use development at one of the Dundee Waterfront’s most prominent sites.

First unveiled when the firm was appointed to the project 12 months ago, the development plans to deliver 88 new apartments across two buildings and a 150-bed hotel across the road from the new V&A Museum.

Spaces are also earmarked for retail use as well as spaces for restaurants, cafes and bars, while several floors of office space will be available for rent.

The private rented sector element of the development will include one, two and three bedroom flats appealing to a wide market including young professionals, couples, families, retired couples and business lets.

Dundee Central Waterfront Site ProposalThe 50,000 sq ft of Grade A office space will extend to four floors of open plan office space, with potential for accommodating a number of uses including back-office, technology, professional services, financial services, public sector organisations or possible call centre users.

Meanwhile the hotel will help meet the forecast demand for accommodation in the central waterfront as growing numbers of visitors and tourists visit Dundee.

Derek Shewan, chief operating officer at Robertson, said the development “promises to be a high quality addition to Dundee’s flourishing Waterfront area”.

Dundee Central Waterfront Site ProposalA spokeswoman for Cooper Cromar, the project’s architects, told the Evening Telegraph: “We are aiming to be one of the first sites completed, assuming planners approve, and it’s important we have the hotel open for the opening of the V&A.

“It will bring boosts to the area and make the new museum look great surrounded by a high quality development.

“We’re very excited to help deliver this project.”

The aim is for the site to be developed in phases, starting in September with work on the offices and hotel — which, it’s hoped, will be completed for the opening of the V&A next year.

The apartments will follow, with a planned completion date of summer 2019.
