The Derbyshire-headquartered firm has opened at the M8 Interlink Industrial Estate in Coatbridge, specialising in drylining and insulation supplies for major construction projects across the central belt. It will initially create 12 full-time jobs.

Established with support from North Lanarkshire Council, the new premises will allow the company, which operates predominantly in the Midlands and North of England, to expand to the whole of the UK.

David Hopkins, CEO of Markovitz, said: “We were delighted to receive support from North Lanarkshire Council, enabling us to establish our first foothold in Scotland.

“This site is ideally placed to give us excellent links right across the central belt. Our doors are open and we are keen to look to further expand our operations North of the border.”

North Lanarkshire Council’s enterprise manager, Yvonne Weir, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Markovitz to Scotland and to North Lanarkshire, which gives them the ideal base to expand their operations.

“With excellent transport links, a skilled workforce and access to opportunities in the strong construction market across central Scotland, North Lanarkshire is well placed for companies, like Markovitz, to locate and invest.”

Business engagement support from the council will see the company engage with hub South West and the Build Lanarkshire programme, access Business Gateway Lanarkshire support services, the council’s Employability Service, and build connections and networks via the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre based in Hamilton.
