Construction companies in the Edinburgh area are being urged to apply early if they are to share in a £110 million boom of work in the city.

Over the coming year, Robertson Partnership Homes and Robertson Central will be working on a number of high-profile projects in the capital, covering housing, regeneration, research facilities, waste management and sport.

The company is looking for a range of sub-contractors across different trades for the projects, and will host a Meet the Buyer event in the city’s Lochend Industrial Estate this Thursday (28 April) for those interested in bidding for the work.

Derek Shewan, chief operating officer at Robertson, said: “As the new Queensferry Crossing nears completion, this is a further sign of the confidence there is in Edinburgh and the vibrancy of the economy of Scotland’s capital.

“With £110m of contracts up for grabs, this represents a tremendous opportunity for contractors across a range of trades and we’re delighted to be able to invite companies based in the area to be a part of this work.”

Among the projects requiring sub-contractors is the delivery of 250 affordable houses for 21st Century Homes over 7 sites across the city, Phase 2 of the Pennywell masterplan housing development, work on Seafield Community Recycling Centre, the University of Edinburgh’s Large Animal Research and Imaging Facility and Raeburn Place Sports Stadium.

Mr Shewan added: “These are high-profile developments and we’re looking forward to bringing them to realisation by working in partnership with companies and contractors in the area, supporting local jobs and communities.”

Available subcontractor work includes steelwork, glulam structuring, cladding, seating, mechanical and electrical, roofing, cladding, windows, groundworks and drainage.

Packages are also available for stadium seating, tiling, painting, decorating, scaffolding, joinery, plumbing and flooring.

Those interested should attend the Meet the Buyer event on Thursday, April 28 between 11am-4pm at GTG Edinburgh, Lochhend Industrial Estate.
