A major housing development at the former Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) is expected to be approved next week.

Persimmon Homes submitted proposals last August for a £35 million project to transform the Bridge of Don site, which has lain vacant since the arena closed in 2019.

The development would deliver 16 one-bedroom properties, 62 two-bedroom homes, 159 three-bedroom houses and 96 four-bedroom houses. In line with council policy, 83 homes (25%) will be designated as affordable housing.

Planning officials have now recommended that councillors vote in favour of the application, subject to conditions.

These include construction in phases and the installation of special windows and acoustic fencing to shield residents from unacceptable noise levels.
