Akela strengthens UK ground engineering operations

Jon Goodman

Akela Ground Engineering has appointed experienced ground engineering professional Jon Goodman as contracts manager, supporting the company’s continued growth nationwide.

Jon joins Akela Ground Engineering with nearly a decade of experience in contract management and engineering roles across the UK ground engineering sector. His career includes positions with Aarsleff Ground Engineering, Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering, Balfour Beatty plc and Green Piling, where he has developed extensive expertise in project delivery, client liaison and operational performance.

Based at Akela Ground Engineering’s English base in Swadlincote, Jon will report directly to managing director, Will Payne, and will oversee the delivery of specialist ground engineering projects from contract award through to completion. A key part of his remit will be building strong client relationships, understanding project objectives and providing responsive technical and commercial support to enhance the customer experience and secure repeat business.

His appointment comes as Akela Ground Engineering continues to expand its operations across the UK, following the successful launch of its innovative ABeam precast system in 2024 and the establishment of its Irish base in Co. Armagh last year.

Will Payne, managing director of Akela Ground Engineering, said: “Jon brings a strong track record in contract management and ground engineering delivery, and we are delighted to welcome him to the team. His experience working across a range of complex projects will support our continued growth across the UK and help us maintain the high standards our clients expect.

“As we continue to expand our operations and roll out innovative solutions such as ABeam across the country, Jon’s expertise will play an important role in strengthening our delivery capability and enhancing the service we provide to customers.”

Akela Ground Engineering continues to support major energy, residential and commercial developments across the UK, with leading housebuilders praising the company’s ABeam system for delivering significant efficiencies and helping accelerate build programmes.

Since launching in 2024, ABeam has received NHBC Accepts certification and the UKCA mark for its production facility, reinforcing Akela Group’s commitment to quality and reliability.
