And finally... bee kind

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland is to sponsor 10 beehives in partnership with Kin Bees, a Dunfermline-based beekeeping enterprise.

The collaboration is part of Taylor Wimpey’s ongoing commitment to improving biodiversity and encouraging nature to thrive, creating a greener, healthier future for customers, colleagues, and the communities in which they build.

The sponsorship has enabled Kin Bees to invest in essential equipment to maintain the bees’ health and improve the efficiency of their business operations.

Bees play a crucial role in pollination, supporting ecosystems and food production worldwide, and World Bee Day highlights the importance of protecting these essential pollinators. This partnership demonstrates how businesses can contribute to a greener future through direct action and community collaboration.

Pre-construction work is now underway to create Taylor Wimpey East Scotland’s new Whitefields neighbourhood in Dunfermline, which will include measures to enhance the area for local wildlife and improve biodiversity with features such as bee bricks, bug hotels, bat boxes and hedgehog highways.

And finally... bee kind

Karen Malt, project lead and sustainability champion for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, added: “We are delighted to support Kin Bees and their incredible work in beekeeping and improving biodiversity right on the doorstep of our regional office in Dunfermline and our new development coming soon at Whitefields.

“In 2021, we launched our environment strategy, which outlines our pledge to support nature across the UK. In addition to installing hedgehog highways, bug hotels, bat boxes, and wildlife pounds in our developments, we also plan to introduce 200 beehives in the UK.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to creating environmentally responsible communities and supporting local businesses that make a real difference.”

Gael Wilkinson, head beekeeper and owner of Kin Bees, said: “This sponsorship from Taylor Wimpey East Scotland allows us to invest in essential equipment and expand our efforts to protect and nurture local bee populations.

“It’s fantastic to see businesses taking an active role in sustainability, and I’m looking forward to working with the team and our incredible bees to create some delicious honey that future homeowners at Whitefields will enjoy.”
